My mom is a fan of the 70's "Have a Nice Day" smiley face and is also a social worker...I thought this was a great gift to give her for fun to make her feel happy and for a laugh. Just like the old "Magic 8 ball," but instead of providing answers to questions it gives quotes are funny with little positive affirmations to anyone that picks it up (some are back-handed compliments, which is funny to read as well). Its a must-have humorous gift to those in the helping professions and those dealing with doom and gloom issues that affect their personal lives. This yellow happy face ball sits on top of my desk, and has been the source of many laughs, and good cheer. Most people try to ask it a question like the Magic 8 Ball, but then realize it is simply going to say something nice. Often it will say that nice thing at just the right moment, or seemingly in response to a recent event or comment, which makes it even more appreciated and hilarious. I recommend this happy ball for any workplace!
The trinagular message thingy never wants to go flat against the window, it always lands on an edge and stays there without righting itself. You have to jiggle it carefully to get the message to display.
bought this as a desk accessory and just wanted to note a few things for others:
1. it does NOT stand up as pictured. the only way to place it stationary is on the triangle part, thus covering up the very part that you want to see, the triangle inside with the funny phrases. this just looks weird on the desk.
2. as a result of the above, the happy face stares UP at you, not from the side. again, this looks odd.
3. the liquid inside is a bit dark and covers the phrases a bit; it can be hard to read and i'm no oldie. yet.
i did like the phrase, "you look mahvellous" though.
Sadly, this product was a huge disappointment. The concept is GREAT, but to see the "floating messages" inside the dark liquid is almost impossible. At best, it's cute sitting on a shelf somewhere just as a reminder that "smiling" is always a good thing. I wanted to give this product high marks... I really did! Sorry.
