This is a very simply designed product. It has flip out plugs to go into a wall socket, making it easy to travel with. The battery cover has easily opens and closes with a notch on one side to pull up with a finger. The battery only goes in one way due to two different sized tabs on opposite ends. And there is a notch to remove the battery too.
I had a newly purchased battery that would not charge with the phone, even after being plugged into the wall overnight (I guess it was so dead). But I was able to charge it up with this wall charger just fine. And am using it in my phone now.
Have only had it a week, so not sure about the battery issue the other review had. Will have to keep an eye on it.
But battery life has been a problem with the Pre since day one (before getting this charger). Depending on how much I'm using email, web, and alarms going off I often won't be able to complete a day without a recharge. When I got the charger I put the battery to it, 6 hours later it charged about 88% and then stopped working entirely. I wasted my money and my time with this product and I would return it if shipping didn't cost more than the product itself.
Had this a few weeks. Seems to give a full 100% charge on batteries.
The Pre's batteries are not so hot no matter how you charge them, thus I'm not sure if I will be able to tell what this unit does to them long term.
I figure that the OEM batteries are so cheap now ($3 with shipping - got mine from Amazon/BTO) that I can just use this on them and not worry.
This unit is nice and small, decent quality for the price. Came new.
This charger does not give the battery a full charge. Charged my battery overnight and only recieved about 80% charge. I use the second battery as a back up so a full charge isn't always necessary. It was cheap so I got what I paid for. Might have to purchase a different type of charger and pass this one on to my kid (who has a palm too).
This is just the handiest little gadget. I had been tempted to buy a second battery for my phone for a long time, but wondered what good would that do if I had to plug it into my phone to charge it up. Now I have one battery charging, while I go about my business and can just swap them out. On a recent trip to DC, I found it quite helpful. One battery was charging in my room, while I was using the other to take photos and hook up with fellow travelers. By the end of the day, the battery would be drained, but I just swaped them out and voila, a fully charged battery available for the evening.
Since beginning to use this product, my batteries for my Palm PRE do not seem to last long. They were staying charged for at least a day. Now, they discharge after little use after about 1/2 a day. I would not recommend using on a new battery. - Palm Pre Charger - Palm Pre'
