It is a nice remote. It worked out of the box with XBMC on Ubuntu. Just need to select Windows Media Center for the receiver and transmitter during lirc setup.
Overall, it is a good buy for the price. Have been using it for the past 2 weeks. Noah Company MediaGate HA-IR01SV Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate Media Center Remote Control, 1 Channel IR (Silver)
Nice remote, but it missing the crucial feature for a MCE remote - the ability to learn/program so you can control your TV power etc. Manual mentions it, but then you realise that this feature isn't included with this specific edition. Huge missing piece in my media center puzzle. Returned it.
I have this with an Acer Revo 1600 with XBMC Live 9.11 installed. Works perfectly. Had some trouble getting it to recognize with 9.04, but did a dist-upgrade and it now works great. Exactly what I wanted and cheap!
No matter how many drivers I downloaded or tricks I tried, I could not get this sucker to work with WindowsXP (not that it even says it will, I was just trying). Does work perfectly with XBMC Live (Linux), but I had to switch to XBMC live just because I couldn't use this with WindowsXP.
I prefer a harmony remote for my media center control, but this remote receiver is top-notch and supports all the RC6 commands, therefore supports all the necessary controls and features of Windows Media Center. Highly recommend this for the receiver alone. Plug and play, couldn't be easier.
This worked straight out the box with Ubuntu and the mceusb driver.
The receiver does not have any issues that other receivers have with IR interference from my plasma and is very responsive. It works great with my Harmony 900 that is programmed as a MCE remote. I bought this to replace a Philips/HP receiver that was having issues initializing and had major IR interference issues.
The remote is nice and responds quickly. It has all the buttons needed for a good Ubuntu/XBMC/MythTV setup, although I use a Harmony remote instead of this.
This is a great remote, very similar to the official Microsoft Media Center remote which was available a while ago. The build quality is not the same as my original Microsoft Remote but this is very close. Installation is easy in Windows as the drivers are built in and all the IR commands are mapped ready for Media Center. - Computer Remote - Cheap - Htpc - Media Center'
