I do not know why the previous reviewer said this doesn't fit right, but mine fits perfect! Rubber covering went on easy and the hard back cover was on with not much effort. Feels good in the hand. Phone don't feel as fragile now like it did naked. This cover fits like a glove and does not come off easy (a good thing) so it will not pop off if you do happen to drop your phone. This case has a great design excellent feel, it's lightweight doesn't add too much bulk to the phone. I like how it fits the look of the captivate and love the button and headphone jack covers. My beef with this case is that the plastic shell that goes over the silicone inner layer does not cover the top and the bottom edges of the phone. The lack of rigid support on these areas causes the silicone to curl up when you pull the phone out of your pocket. This is very annoying and allows lint, dirt and whatever smut that might be in your pocket inside the case. Sometimes I wonder if little things like this ever cross an engineer/designer's mind when they design a product. Having the full plastic shroud covering all edges would have barely added any thickness and the case would install just as easily and the silicone will stay put. If it weren't for this flaw this would be a 5 star case
This Commuter Series Otterbox fits the Captivate like a glove...is not bulky and the screen protector that comes with it is a snap to install also. The openings are sufficient for all of the hookups. I'm glad I got the Commuter series.
This is a good case for the captivate. It fits well and all buttons for the phone are accessible. This is nothing like the defender series from otterbox but it still affords moderate protection for your phone.
The case fits perfectly and it adds minimal bulk. It's very slick looking and I feel a bit more assured that if my phone were to fall it would survive. The included screen protector is not as bad as I had anticipated although it isn't the best I have used for my phone either. I have a few friends with Otter Box cases for their Iphones and the cases always seemed very well made so I decided to give them a chance and I am not disappointed at all in my purchase of the Otterbox Commuter for the Captivate. If you are looking for a solid case that does not add too much bulk to your device I would certainly recommend this case.
Very pleased with the Otterbox. It's not too bulky, not too light. I have dropped my phone since having it and it was just fine. All of the buttons are easy to use with the case on. The headphones jack is a little tricky to get to sometimes, but I like that it's covered when I'm not using it. Overall, great product, great deal given the price. I'm very happy with it. If I had to pick one con it would be that the rubber inner-casing is exposed on the top and bottom and that tends to attract lint in a pocket, but obviously that is a very small con.
Very easy to put on and feels great. Adds a little bulk to the phone but not as much as a plain silicone case. The phone feels comfortable in my hand and slides in and out of my pocket with ease.
Just wish it wasn't made in China!
Fantastic case for a Samsung Captivate.
For those who don't know, the Commuter case is a two part case. The inner portion of the case is made of silicone and is packaged inside of a plastic case. The plastic outer case leaves the phone still impact resistant while letting the phone slide in and out of a person's pocket easily.
The case adds a small amount of bulk, but made the phone easier to hold and text/email over no case. The Commuter also fits the Captivate perfectly.
The rubber part of the Otterbox Commuter fits just right over the Samsung Captivate. One thing I would wish for is to have the on/off switch button cover to be slightly thinner. It can be too easily pushed to turn on the phone. Oh, one more thing is that the plastic cover that covers the rubber piece is a bit slick. They could have put some bumps or indentations into the side of the plastic to make it less slick. Other than that the case works just fine with the phone. Minimal amount of bulk is added to the phone.
I have owned several otter box cases, mostly defenders. However, the recent commuter series have been improved to surpass what I used to believe was the best. I tried the defender and found that I had issues trying use the settings buttons near the bottom of the screen. I also ran into this previously in the blackberry 8900 defender case. I believe the issue lies with the added bulkiness that the defender extra protection provides. This commuter case eliminates the problem and I can use it with ease all day long if I please. I love the rubber trim on the side for a better grip and the smooth back so you can slide it in and out of your pocket with ease. Overall, I high recommend this case especially if you do not need a holster - Samsung Captivate - Captivate - Samsung - Body Glove'
