Fisher Price Jeep - power wheel, power wheels

I purchased this jeep for my son's 3rd birthday. It rides well on the grass, wet or dry. It also runs well on gravel and through a sand patch that we have in the yard. I was very surprised how long the battery lasts. I have read other power wheels reviews in which people say the battery does not last long. I would strongly disagree. If you charge it like the manual says, you shouldn't have any problems. We have had the jeep for a little over a month now and my son and I are extrememly pleased with it. I can't wait until my other son is big enough to ride in it with his brother. Highly recommended!!!! Power Wheels Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

I bought this for my almost 3 year old for Christmas. He absolutely loves it! The only issue is when it's only him in the vehicle (he weighs 35 lbs) the tires spin out. When his siblings come over and ride with him, it works like a charm. We only ride it on the grass, rocks, & sand. We don't live where he can ride it on pavement. But with the extra weight, it's not a problem.

Also, we have yet to charge the battery and it's been a month! Make sure you charge the battery for the recommended time before use and drain the whole thing before charging it again.

Happy Shopping!

We bought this jeep from Amazon because of the great reviews, but it has been a COMPLETE DISASTER for us. If you have a small, suburban yard or plan to drive it on absolutely flat sidewalks, it might be fun. For us, it is no good at all, even with one 40 lb child.

We have 5 acres and a huge variety of terrain. We were fully prepared for it not to work on our slopes and inclines, but imagined that the area around the house that is flattish (just very gentle slopes where it has not been professionally graded) would be fine. Instead, it's been a total failure.

At first, we thought the car was defective since the engine kept dying. We took it in for repair twice, but they couldn't replicate the problem. The repair guy happened to have family near us and, when he was visiting, came over to see the jeep in (in)action. He insisted it should be able to handle the flattish areas of our yard and couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Fisher-Price, however, insists that the jeep is not defective and can only be driven on absolutely flat surfaces. Even the gentlest of slopes causes it to overheat, triggering a tripswitch that cuts the motor off for 30 seconds. My child rides for a minute or two, then it stops, then we wait 30 seconds, then he rides for another minute or two. They have now promised to call the authorized repair guy to inform him that the jeep will not work on anything but the flattest surface. They have also told us the repair guy was wrong to suggest it should work on our yard. I point this out only to show that even the authorized repairman was surprised and shocked that it would not work on our flattish (but not completely level) yard.

Final outcome, we have wasted $250. Look carefully at the area where you'll be using it. I always considered our front yard flat until our Jeep Rubicon taught me otherwise!

We have owned this Jeep for about 3 weeks now. Both our little boys love it. Easy to drive and operate. It has held up well so far. The battery takes a long time to charge, but seems to last a good while if fully charged. Assembly was easy for those with minimal mechanical skills, it took us about 30 minutes to assemble.

The hard plastic wheels don't get very good traction on any surface. I sprayed the tires w/ a rubberized undercoating and it definitely helps, but wears off after several uses. I have seen traction bands for sale on ebay and other sites that mount on the tires to improve traction.

This toy is now offered w/ a real working radio. Wish we had know this, as the boys really liked that feature on their friends car.

Overall good toy so far. No major complaints.

The Jeep looks great and feels sturdy. If your kids like cars, they will even play in the Jeep when the battery is charging. My main problem with the toy is that it seems like it is very hard for my almost 3 year old to steer. He understands the concept of steering since he rides other toys, but he cannot seem to get the Jeep wheel turned. Hopefully this will get better as he grows up. Also, consider where you will store this bad boy: it is BIG!

We bought my daughter this jeep for Christmas and are absolutely thrilled with it. My daughter is almost four and this jeep is the perfect size for her. Though she had only driven a power wheels once before in her life she took right to it having no problems with controlling, reversing or steering the vehicle. She has driven it on grass, pavement, gravel, even on a bumpy path through our woods with no problem at all. She has yet to get it stuck anywhere after driving over all types of terrain. You can lock the jeep so it will run no faster than 2.5 mph but my daughter prefers the higher speed of 5 mph so we have not bothered to so far.

The only headache with this jeep was purchasing it from Amazon. I purchased it from Amazon on cyber monday when they had a great deal on it but five days later (3 days before it was supposed to arrive at my house) I was told it was no longer in stock and would not receive it before Christmas. I checked online and found they were still selling the jeep but at a much higher price. When I asked why they weren't shipping me a jeep I was told I could reorder it and receive it before Christmas but pay the new higher price which was almost double what I had originally purchased it at. Over the course of a couple weeks I spent hours on the phone, with multiple people from customer service in order to get the jeep in time for Christmas at the original price I had bought it at. I was told so many different things by each person and had to constantly check the progress of my order since so many mistakes were made on my billing.

The jeep itself I love and I am so happy I bought it for my daughter. Amazon, however, I would be very leery of ever doing business with again. - Toddler - Power Wheel - Fisher Price Jeep - Power Wheels'

Sound Quality - 2-way radio, gmrs

All manufacturers exaggerate the range of these little radios. I have used these to hear users on top of a 14,000 foot mountain from 6 miles away, but there were no obstructions between me and them. That's the best distance I've achieved. I had a lower power version of these and they worked well for several years before one of them died. I saved its battery as a spare for these and I can still use the one working with these. Most Midlands use the same rechargeable batteries, although you might carry at least four alkalines along if you expect to be away from the recharger for more than a day. If you're camping out you might want to establish a timetable to use them to extend battery life. They have excellent channel security, either with just two of them or in a group. Hearing other users of the same channel can get very annoying. The numerous privacy choices prevent that almost 100%. Like others, in a city or any enclosed space the range is very limited. The headsets can be handy of you're fishing or hunting. I've used 2-way radios for more than 40 years. The first ones I had were the size and weight of bricks. These are state-of-the-art, light, with good clips and among the best currently available. Midland GXT1050VP4 36-Mile 50-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair) (Camo)

The Midland Outfitter Series GXT1050VP4 is no better then any other radios I have used. The GMRS side of the radio will not let you work repeaters for those that are licensed for this service. Range is a joke and the audio could be better the drop in charger only shows when the radios are charging but the light remains on after the battery is fully charged unlike the Talkabout Motorola radios I own. I feel this could shorten the battery life as they are always charging. I called Midland and they told me to charge the radios 8-10 hours max so I don't over charge and damage the batteries. You can not adjust the squelch on these radios as one radio does not hear as well as the other. Another call to Midland was of no help.On the plus side the ear microphones work well and the display is readable day and night.

I owned a pair from the leading competitor to midland and even at the same rating for range, could not receive or transmit through heavy urban obstruction from inside a vehicle for more than a mile. This Model was able to do both at 3 miles with the added problem of multiple Ham radio transmitters in line with my signal. In open country, The signal carried for a measured 12 miles, and that, because the radios were not farther apart. for $80. How can you go wrong when considering all the features and the performance.

These radio's work very well after you get over the fact that no portable radio will work long range in an urban setting. The advertised 37 mile range is not realistic in most settings. No portable radio will work over about a mile unless there is an unobstructed line of sight to the other party such as over water (or maybe mountain top to mountain top). These are 5 Watt radios. The FCC limits the power output on GMRS Radios to 5 Watts maximum. Some brands are not even 5 watts, however these are.

I use these radio's at our hunting camp in Central Georgia. In the thick forest, the maximum range is about a mile. As indicated above,I have used all major brands with Midland the best and Motorola coming in second.

What I like:

Maximum Range

Camo finish

Push to Talk (PTT) works very well, the switch is solidly built

The included headsets work well but are somewhat uncomfortable to wear

More features that you will ever need

The Value Pack with included accessories is a great value and better value than any other radio on the market.

Waterproof, ok to use in the rain

The Amazon price is a real bargain for the radios and all the accessories that are included.

3 Year Warranty (as far as I now the others are only guaranteed a year)

The rechargeable batteries last a long time.

What I don't like:

The unit is somewhat bulky and slightly larger that most radios on the market. However they still fit in your shirt pocket or on your belt with the included belt clip.

Summary:

If you want GMRS radios and accessories that work well at a bargain price, this is the one to buy.

Motorola MR350R vs Midland GXT1050--Both products received good reviews on Amazon and I had a hard time initially deciding which one to buy since I could not find detailed comparison between the two. So, I will try to be more comprehensive in comparison here hoping to help you make a decision suitable for your purpose.

I bought MR350R two months ago from Costco at $55 (tax included) to monitor my baby sleeping upstairs and to use during road trips. A month later I also bought Midland GXT1050 from Amazon upon good reviews and my dissatisfaction with some silly design issue associated with the MR350 VOX feature (which is critical for monitoring purpose).

Size and weight: MR350 is lighter (6.2oz vs 7.3oz for each handset including rechargeable battery pack and belt clips) and has a noticeably more agronomical grip, especially for kids or someone with smaller hands.

Setup and Change Settings: MR350 has more intuitively LCD display and signs/symbols whereas GXT1050 took me a couple of hours to set up and memorize what each symbol/letter means (It would be tremendously helpful if Midland can add a full list of all symbols/letters and their meanings in a simple table instead of diving this information into chunks and burying it into each individual function/feature section). I think a 10 year old can be taught to change settings on MR350 without a manual but that most likely won't happen with GXT1050 (with or without the manual).

Features: These two share many useful key features like Weather Scan and Alert. GXT1050 has more channels (50 vs 22 for MR350R) which may be useful for using in populated areas although I never run into issues with MR350 on this one. MR350 has a built-in LED light for emergency use, which is nice. GXT1050 can produce a loud SOS siren which maybe useful in certain situations (although I never used it for any real purposes). Overall GXT1050 seems a bit more versatile with features such as direct call.

Range: GXT claimed 36 miles range and MR350 claimed 35 miles--both claims are meaningless since nobody would ever achieve the advertised range unless standing on two mountain peaks with perfect conditions. In actual use, the effective range is more like 1-2 miles in a flat suburban environment and a bit more in open field. Some reviewers here found a slightly better range with GXT1050 although my test twice showed MR350R lasted a slightly longer range while me driving away from home with each model broadcasting from my living room.

PPT Button is the one needing to be pressed down when transmitting. MR350R has the button designed in such way you can press the upper part for high power and lower part for low power--made switch power a much easier task. Using GXT1050's mechanism you will have to pre-configure power level in the settings and is not very easy to change in a hurry. The shape of MR350 PPT button is made in such a way though, you would end up using the high power most of the time since the upper part of the button protrudes further out. Nonetheless, I like the MR350R design on this one.

VOX: This is one of the most critical features if you want to monitor baby sleeping in a different room or just want to talk hand-free. I agree with C. Hayes' review here that MR350R's three sensitivity levels are not sensitive enough (Hayes's wording made me smile, though a bit exaggerated.). GXT1050 has 9 level of sensitivities and the most sensitive setting (level 1) is indeed more sensitive than that of MR350R (level 3), however, the difference it is not day and night--both detected my baby crying after waking up when placed about 1-2 feet away and both failed to detect my normal talk volume from 1-2 feet away unless I yell loudly or put the radio within 2-3 inches to my mouth. When put in front of a PC speaker, I did notice that GXT1050 started getting into the transmitting mode a bit earlier than MR305R as I turned up the volume knob of my speaker. However, if you want to talk to you handset placed on your shoulder (like policeman does) with your normal voice volume without bending your head to get close to the ratio--good luck no matter which set you use. I really think both companies should increase the sensitive level here.

The biggest turn-off of MR350R is that its VOX feature would be automatically cancelled if you press PPT button, intentionally or accidentally, even if when all settings are "locked"--my baby likes to play with radio and sometime the VOX setting is accidentally cancelled because he squeezed the PPT button. I found this a ridiculous under-thinking (or over-thinking) by Motorola's engineers--I understand the need to preserve power if pressing PPT means VOX may no longer be necessary, but auto-cancel even though settings are locked? Does the word "lock" mean anything? GXT has no problem on this one--kudos to their engineers. I would have returned MR350R for this reason alone (thanks to the great Costco return policy.) if not because my GXT1050 set had a quality issue.

The Wishper feature of GXT1050 does give much loud volume which is very useful for baby monitoring if you don't carry your ratio set on you or right next to you.

Battery life: Both are pretty good (for the good unit I have). I followed exact instructions to do the initial charge (important to battery life) and subsequent charges. However, one of my MR350R unit would run out juicy twice faster than the other handset would--this may be due to difference in batteries or the radio circuit parts. Even worse luck with GXT1050 I had-- sometimes one unit would lose power during use even though it was newly charged and it would not even charge after being placed on the charger. Swapping batteries solves the problem temporarily but this issue reappears later. This caused me to return the GXT1050 to Amazon (thanks to Amazon's 30 day return policy) after on two occasions my baby woke up and fell off bed but GXT1050 failed to give me any warning in advance because of this very issue.. I don't know whether this was caused by a faulty battery or circuit component but I do think this is probably an isolated quality issue since most reviewers here seems to be quite happy with their purchase. One small thing to comment on the rechargeable battery installation and removal--MR350 got this one right with a ribbon under the battery to help you remove the pack easily. The GXT1050 rechargeable battery pack fit in so tightly and there is no ribbon there to help--it would take a few minutes and possibly a fingernail or two (and believe me, I am not exaggerating here) to remove it, especially if you are in a hurry to put in some alkaline batteries in the field. Midland--please spend a nickel or a dime and put in a removal ribbon here.

Charger: Both models do NOT have smart charger--which means the charge light is still red even when fully charged. IBoth companies should make an improvement on this for better battery power and life.

Compatibility: I checked their frequency charts and found that first 22 channels are on exact frequencies so they are compatible. However, I found this to be true only when privacy code is not used. When both models are set on the same channel using the same privacy code--they were able to scan and found each other SOMETIMES, but not always. What a bummer since I would be happy to have both sets (if without quality issues mentioned earlier) and use them in a group to suit different needs.

Waterproof: GXT1050 is splash-proof (JIS4 as the fine print specified), not really waterproof in the sense you can submerge it in water but this is still better than MR350R.

Price: GXT1050 package costs about $20 more but it also includes two headsets and a car charger adaptor--I would call a tie on this one.

Overall, each model has its own strengths--buy what suits your purpose. I had experience in building electronics and know for a fact that individual difference in parts/components sometime impact significantly in power consumption and transmit/receiving sensitivity. So, each unit may vary somewhat from one another --your mileage may vary when coming down to range, sensitivity, etc. So, celebrate if you get a good pair but don't get too hung up if someone else claims a bit better range or clarity or whatsoever.

I would have given 4 stars to both models given their solid performance before noticing quality issues mentioned above but 3 stars here due to quality/reliability issues happened to the set I received in addition to some much desired improvement in design--I hope the manufacturers read my reviews and take some actions--those are not expensive changes at all but would be much more user friendly. I would buy the improved version of either brand in a heartbeat. - Gmrs - Handheld - 2-way Radio - Midland'

Recumbent Bikes - recumbent bike, stationary indoor bike

UPDATE ON 12/27/2010. After one year of steady use, I am very pleased with the machine. In my original review (below) I reported a clicking noise, but I finally figured out that it was because the locking knob on the seat adjuster was not tightened down; once corrected the bike has been silent. It has been ridden an average of 2 1/2 hours per week. There have been absolutely no problems with the bike. My only complaints (and they're not show-stoppers) are 1) the useless book ledge, 2) the handlebars aren't usable unless you lean forward, and 3) the need for plugging the unit into an electrical outlet (rather than having a battery). Please note that I unplug my bike when it's not in use, as I expect the transformer unit would burn out much sooner if left plugged in all the time. SUMMARY: A great machine, and I highly recommend it.

The remainder of this review was written in December, 2009:

Please note that this review is written based on only ONE WEEK (Comments added 1/7/10) of use, so it can't possibly address performance over the long term. If I remember to, I'll come back in a few months and give a more complete review.

First, the machine was shipped promptly and arrived on time. The package was somewhat damaged, but all the bike parts arrived in good condition. It appears to me that the Chinese manufacturer packaged the bike for containerized shipment, and not for individual transport. Nevertheless, all was okay.

Assembly is straight-forward. I was interrupted (neighbor's horses got out), but total assembly time was probably about one hour, working alone. Note that I'm an experienced assembler, having put together many wagons, carts, bikes, trikes, etc. in the wee hours of Christmas morning. Also note that Step 5 (page 11) calls for REMOVING the seat rail bracket; the bracket on my bike WAS NOT already installed, and, not reading the instruction, I installed the bracket, as that's what the diagram suggested. No big deal, but you'll have to remove it later. Other than that glitch, all went smoothly. By the way, all the tools that you will need are included in the package - nice touch.

With only one week's use, the machine has been absolutely silent in operation; I certainly hope that continues. (ADDED 1/7/10: After a month's use, it has developed a clicking sound as I pedal.) By default, the bike starts at intensity level 3. Stepping up to level 4 is detectable but not severe. Further steps seem to increase resistance at a higher level.

I cannot grasp the front handle bars while sitting with my back against the backrest; in fact I can barely touch them with my finger tips. To grasp the handles I must lean forward. Not a biggie, but I would prefer them to be located in front of the electronic display, rather than behind it.

As to the electronic panel, it appears to me that the MPH shown is high; at 80 RPMs it registers 16 miles per hour, while my old bike showed 13 MPH. The display registers about 25 calories per mile at resistance level 4. The heart rate monitor shows about 5 beats per minute higher than my Polar unit, but I can't say for sure which one is closer.

I do not like the way the "time" feature changes between "elapsed time" and a one-minute countdown display at 6-second intervals - I would prefer it to stay on the elapsed time screen. If there is a way to reset this feature I haven't been able to find it. (ADDED 1/7/10: Press the LOCK button to keep on elapsed time and MPH.)

Also, my old bike stopped the elapsed-time clock whenever I quit pedaling, but this one continues to run - a stop to answer the doorbell reflected 5 minutes of exercise time while I was away. (ADDED 1/7/10: Press the STOP once (only once) to pause the display, and the top left button (I forget its label) to resume.)

I have not used any of the programmed workout programs, because I exercise at 78-82 RPMs for 30 minutes, varying pedal resistance during the workout (I'm a 70-year-old male, and I'm not trying to build endurance.)

The "magazine rack" is merely a small ledge. It will hold a magazine, I suppose, but I place my very small MP3 player on it. I don't believe that some of the larger players would stay on the ledge.

I knew this before I ordered the bike, so I can't really complain, but I would much prefer the display unit to be powered by a battery, as my old bike was. The Schwinn 220 must be plugged into an AC outlet - without electricity you don't get any readouts, and can't vary resistance.

The Schwinn 220 seems to be pretty stout, and my overall impression, at this point, is favorable. If it continues to function like it does now, I'll be pleased with my purchase. Time will tell. (ADDED 1/7/10: So far, so good.) Schwinn 220 Recumbent Exercise Bike

I've been searching for some time for a decent, affordable recumbent exercise bike to replace a rowing machine I'd quite using because of knee problems. It seemed the really solid ones were well over the thousand dollar mark, and the less expensive ones were... well, junk. I tried a Schwinn 240 at a local sporting goods discounter, but (1) I couldn't adjust it to fit me and (2) it wobbled and creaked as I tried to pedal it. I had about given up hope of finding an affordable unit when I tried a 220 at another discount store. It was poorly assembled, but it did fit, and pedaling it was comfortable. They could order me one and have it "just a few weeks", they assured me. I said I'd think about it.

Back home I read the Amazon reviews for the 220. Even better than the 240, said some, and it has the same 300lb rating, which means it should be just as strong. Hmm. I thought about it overnight, and decided to bite the bullet. Two days later I came home from my morning bike ride to the coffee shop to find a large cardboard box sitting on the back porch. I got out my pocket knife, opened the box, and - this is important- removed the assembly manual before doing anything else.

I studied the manual for a while- it's one of those modern multi-country ones with no text, just a lot of diagrams. Think Ikea. It was clear enough. I removed the pieces from the box and carted them upstairs one by one. Assembly was clear and straightforward, making allowances for those little production tolerances you inevitably come across in anything made in a semi-automated factory. I didn't have any of the problems some reviewers mentiopned, probably because I read the assembly manual fully and made sure I'd identified all the parts before starting. A few tips:

1. The bolts come in two types: Flat head, for attaching the feet (parts A), and round head for everything else. The round headed bolts are labeled in order of increasing length- B, D, E, F. Simple. Don't unwrap them all at once- just peel back the plastic to expose the bolts you need for the task you're working on.

2. The curved washers are for attaching screws to curved surfaces, That includes joining the front and rear assemblies together- here, the bolts are already inserted in the assemblies when you unpack- and attaching the column that holds the computer.

3. There are a number of interconnecting cables running through some of the assemblies. Most are simple mini-headphone type connectors (1/8" mini plug), but there are also a couple of flat, multi-wire connectors at the top and bottom of the column holding the computer. If you take care to align these when assembling, they'll slip together easily with little or no force.

4. Some of the cables are held in place with twist ties and rubber bands. Don't remove these ties and bands until you've connected the cables, or you're likely to lose a cable inside the machine.

5. Follow the instructions religiously. Coming up with shortcuts and "improved" methods will get you into a lot of trouble.

6. Don't tighten any bolts until you get all the bolts in for a given assembly. This is especially important when installing the seat assembly. There, tighten the bolts at the front support before tightening the bolts at the rear support.

7. The funny shaped metal piece sealed in with the bolts and washers is a screwdriver and pedal wrench. And remember: The left hand pedal has a reverse thread.

8. You'll notice that there are *two* sets of mounting holes for the seat back. Being 6'2" and having a long torso to boot, I used the lower holes in order to mount the seat back higher. You may have to experiment with this to find the best setting for you, but I'll suggest that if you're over 5'10" you start with the higher seat back position. (If more than one person will be using the machine, you may have to compromise on one position or the other.)

Once I'd studied the assembly manual and had all the pieces laid out, actual assembly took perhaps 30 minutes. I plugged in the power supply (a 9-volt wall wart), punched "Quick Start", and started pedaling. Easy. Pushing the "+" and +-+ buttons increased and decreased resistance smoothly- I found that I liked spinning at 4. I haven't tried all the programs and other settings because, frankly, I don't care about programs and automation and such. All I wanted was a knob that says harder <-> easier. But I do like some of the features, like the built in pulse monitor and the timer. Very useful. Some reviewers have complained that the front "handlebars" are too far away to reach. Those aren't handlebars; those are handles to make it easier to get up, for those users who might have some difficulties in doing so.

Short summary: This is a well made (for the money), easy to use, comfortable machine that will probably get a lot of use once the weather cools down and I can't bike every day. Until then, it'll be for rainy days. I'll update this in a few months after I get more miles in.

UPDATE:

I've been using this bike daily for a month and a half, and I'm still very pleased with it. My favorite feature? It's silent, which means I can watch TV while spinning without turning up the volume. I'll pop in a DVD from the library- usually a documentary series- and before I know it, I've done 30 minutes of solid exercise.

UPDATE II:

I've now been using the 220 daily for just over 4 months, and I'm still very pleased with it. Everything still works, none of the parts have deformed or loosened, and the foam in the seat is still stiff and supportive. My knees have strengthened to the point that my arthritis is far less of a problem than it was. I'm pleased.

UPODATE II: It's been 8 months now, and I still use it every day I can't go bicycling. One tip learned: If yours goes "clunk" on every revolution as you pedal it, the chances are extremely good that you have a loose pedal. The pedals may not appear loose, but if you snug both up with a wrench, the noise will probably go away. - Exercise Bikes - Recumbent Bike - Exercise Bike - Stationary Indoor Bike'

Vga Splitter

This will split the signal from your laptop so that you can have one VGA cable going to a HDTV and another to a PC monitor next to it. This way I can surf the web when my girlfriend is watching her soap opera in spanish. Great product. I was very lucky to find this on Amazon and very happy to use this today. Works flawlessly. So much so that I am thinking of buying another HDTV to view websites from my couch instead of using the 22" Samsung monitor. Vendor CableMart is good.

You can also view videos, YouTube, e-mail, etc. while you are watching TV on the big screen. Video Splitter - VGA(HD15) M to VGA(HD15) F X 2 (1 PC to 2 Monitors) for High...

As a video dj I needed a product like this so that I can use my extended desktop to show music videos. I needed a reliable way to feed both the club's video system and a video monitor in my booth. Before I got this I couldn't hook up to both. I didn't have to change any settings and no loss of video quality. Truly plug & play. I don't think that I would attempt to split vga to more than two outputs without an amplified (powered) splitter but if you only need two outputs this works great. Arrived early and exactly as pictured.

The Video Splitter was exactly what I needed and works perfectly by allowing me to see what I am looking at not only on my computer monitor but on my TV as well. I can also just have it on one or the other at a time.

It is good. But I cannot use it with my TV and LCD display since the screen resolution is the same for both devices.

TV shows good picture in a part of the screen since it does not support high resolution. LCD display shows bad picture because of low signal.'

Iphone Car Mount - iphone, iphone car mount

I wish this was built better because if you put it on your windshield and *never* touch it again, it works great. I like the stiffness of the neck and the ability to rotate from portrait to landscape. HOWEVER, the first one I owned broke when I tried to remove it from the windshield. The part that breaks is a small piece inside the suction mechanism that allows you to "lock" the ultra-strong suction into place. Once it's broken, you can stick it on something but it will rattle and eventually fall off.

I notified the manufacturer and they replaced the broken unit under warranty (it took a while to receive the new one.)

I was excited that they replaced it, but only three weeks later the exact same thing happened to my replacement unit, and that was with me already knowing to be careful with the lock mechanism! It simply doesn't take much effort to break the tiny piece inside and there is no way to access it for DIY repair. Once it's broken, the product is immediately useless. This is a design flaw and unfortunately I cannot recommend this product to anyone until it's fixed because there are no workarounds. Macally mGrip Suction Cup Holder for All Portable Devices in Vehicle (Black)

S. Kallshian posted a review stating that the locking mechanism easily breaks on this. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I bought two of these, one for my girlfriend and one for me. Hers is still fine, because she never moves it. I moved mine (I bought a plastic disc to mount to my dash, I was tired of having it stuck to my windshield), and it has not worked since.

In addition to the lock mechanism breaking, mine will no longer hold my phone in landscape orientation. It will stay for about a minute, but then the phone will slowly rotate until it is in portrait orientation. Very disappointing. I almost never leave reviews, but I am on Amazon looking for a new phone mount for my iPhone, and saw this so I decided to leave a review to warn others about my experiences with this mount.

I always read the reviews before I buy and for some reason I did not do that for this holder, if I had I would have purchased a different holder. So far this has worked very good for me but should that change I will modify my review.

I bought this for my IPhone. I have a Ford Escape with Sync and MotionX Drive loaded on my IPhone. This holder is long enough that brings my phone out to the front of my dash where I can see it the way I want. It also seems to be holding up very well. I do not leave this attached to my window when I park my car any place other than my garage. I have had this on and off of my window several dozen times already without any problems. It sticks firmly to my window and releases very easily when I push the release button. The neck is flexible allowing me to set my phone exactly in the position I want yet sturdy enough to hold where I set it. The holder is adjustable and holds my phone very securely in place.

As an Amazon Prime member I got free 2 day shipping on my order and it arrived on time and in perfect shape. - Iphone Car Mount - Iphone'

Universal Power Adapter

The six commonly used power tips provide flexibility with this product. I purchased this to use as an interface between a CD Walkman player and the AC power cord. The heads have specific polarity; so it is possible to attach the heads incorrectly. However, if you pay attention to the plus and minus hookups as indicated, it's not too difficult to make the attachment correctly the first time. I found the product to work effectively. The only negative I can see is that the actual plug-in device is a bit bulky; so if you want to use this in a power strip setting, the AH3WH can be a bit of a plug hog. However, other than that limitation, the product was reliable. Recommended to save on those batteries which do add up! RCA Universal AC Adapter (AH3WH)

BOTTOM LINE: Although I got what I wanted, I would be very reluctant to use this adapter for anything sensitive (e.g., laptop) but it seems fine for toys or other low-end electronics.

I bought this product in replacement for a similar one that ceased to function after falling off a workbench. This adapter only contained six different power tips (as compared to the 16 provided by the other product), and did not contain the one that I needed. Luckily, I was able to reuse a power tip from the previous product.

There is apparently no industry standard for these power tips, so you are taking a guess whether this particular product will fit your needs. It may show up and have no tip you can use.

There is nothing on the power tips to indicate what they are (e.g., 5 mm outer barrel by 2.5 mm inner barrel).

While the documentation did provide clear instructions on ensuring correct polarity (be SURE to get this right), there is no possible way to be sure you have the "right" power tip; you must use trial and error and if it seems to fit and you are getting power, then it works. This last point is the reason I would not use this on a laptop or other high-end device.

At first, I thought it was defective because no green light after plugging in. Then the light came on and still couldn't get my JBL speaker to come on. Turns out I plugged the adapter in wrong so after a couple of tries, I got it to work. I left it plugged in all nite and it was a little warm so you might need to unplug from wall if not in use. For the price, it is an excellent buy.

I recently bought a weather radio that did not come with a power cord, so I purchased this one. The product works, I would caution you on one thing. The prongs for each tip are stuck through a piece of hard plastic. When I opened it up, I eyeballed the correct tip and tried to get it out first. Unfortunately, I had the right tip, and broke off one of the prongs. It still works I just have to prop it up against something. The tip doesn't fit perfectly, so I'm not sure if I'm having to apply pressure because the tip doesn't fit or to hold the prong in place.

So...to get the rest of the tips out I used a butter knife to push them through on the side of the prongs, instead of pulling the tips.

Adjustable adapters and adjustable voltages, what more can you ask for, just dont lose the adapters!!! wish they were somehow connected to the adapter so you could wouldn't have to worry about storing them, but still great deal for an all in one adapter!! saved me plenty of time looking around for one!

It is a 5 for price and selection of tips. It is a 2 for length of charging, but leave it on, do an errand and your good. Overall, it is a 3. For those who are budget minded, need compatibility, and don't have to have it quick charged, this is a good deal.

The shipping was fast. It was here in three business days. I tried this in a few different electronic devices. It did not have a snug fit in A belkin 802.11 g router. Bummer. I'm not sure these connections are exactly standardized. Still gonna use it. The price was fair. Thank you. I would buy again from this seller.

I was delighted that another reviewer said this product worked for their Sony Shower Radio/CD Player. I confirm that it does have the right link and I am no longer wasting battery after battery. I cannot comment further because that was my sole need. So I am delighted that one problem is resolved.'

Dashboard Mount

My Prius has a rough dashboard and a windshield that slopes very sharply. Thus, the suction cup mounts are not good solutions. Fortunately, the friction mount is a great solution. It works much better than I expected. Very stable, does not slide, and lets me adjust my Nuvi to a variety of different angles. I can place the GPS anywhere on the dash or even on the center console. Also works great when transferred to my wife's Ford.

Only downside to the device is that it has a rather large footprint, but not prohibitively large. I like the fact that I can easily use this in both of our family vehicles depending on where we need the GPS.

UPDATE: Now that I have used this mount regularly since May, I have to say this is the best mounting solution I've found for a GPS or any other device for my car. It hasn't slid out of place once!! Given the rise in GPS units being stolen from cars, this mount allows you to easily stash your GPS Unit and mount out of sight and then put it back into position with ease.

2009 Update: Still using this in my Prius and my wife has one too. It's held up quite well. It IS a bit bulky to store out of the way when not in use, but still a good solution. I usually remove my GPS from the mount (a simple process) and then place the mount as far under the seat as it will go. Not perfect, but the best solution I've found to date. Garmin Portable Friction Mount

This mount works great. The selection of Garmin mounts is confusing as some are two parts and some are one. If you have a Nuvi with the included windshield mount, then this is the only part you need to buy. The included mount disassembles at the ball and socket joint and attaches to this one. I can't say it will never come off the dash if I do some really high speed maneuver, but so far it's held steady for all regular driving.

I like that it's easy to move the mount and gps unit down to the floor when I park. Yeah a thief could still see it if they came right up to my car but at least it's not obvious from halfway across the parking lot like a windshield mount is. A thief that sees an empty windshield mount is probably going to assume (correctly) that I've just put the unit in the glove compartment.

I have become addicted to my Garmin Nuvi 660 and used it for six months with a successful windshield mount. But now I have bought a new car. I discovered that the windshield suction mount left an ugly black ring on the window of my old car. (I assume I can get this cleaned up when I detail the car for selling.)

So no way was I going to put one of those on my beautiful new car. I tried the Garmin dashboard mount but shied away from the "permanent" disc. I found the "temporary" disc was just not up to the job of holding this device in place -- at least on my vehicle. I found this very frustrating. I read about the Portable Friction Mount, found a Best Buy store that had it in stock and ran out to buy it.

Though it is not terribly good looking, it does the job very well. I tried whipping around a few tight turns in parking lots and the whole thing stayed put. As another reviewer said, this lets you easily remove the thing and put it on the floor so it's not obvious. That may be more valuable than you would think. I know somebody who removed his Garmin Nuvi (and took it with him) but left the window mount in place. The car was broken into and the window mount alone was stolen. (Probably that was a pretty frustrated thief.)

Also, this will be easy to transfer to a rental car. And it will make it easy for my wife to borrow my Nuvi. Hmmm!

While the friction mount on the bottom of the beanbag is pretty darn stable even with stops, starts, and turns I sometimes would find it sliding across the dash. The solution has been to use one of those little 6x4 inch mats sold at Radio Shack or Walmart for keeping cellphones on the dash. The mat is sticky on one side but leaves no marks or glue. I have not had one slide since using the mat. I even bring the mat with me in rental cars. This gives a very secure mount that is very easy to take from car to car.

The first time I tried this mount was in a rental car for a Garmin C530, and I never thought it would stay on the slightly sloping dash of the Pontiac Grand Prix but it held firm going up and down San Francisco's hilly roads. That prompted me to buy one for my car. Essentially this mount is a bean bag with a mouse pad like rubber base but its engineered to stay where you put it and not slide around unless you move it. The good thing is that it stays put even if you brake suddenly, and if you drive in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic like me every day you'll appreciate this even more!

The advantages are:

- No sticking on windshield. This is a BIG advantage as the windshield mount starts to come off easily after a year of usage, less if you leave it in your car while it's parked in the sun. There is nothing worse than your GPS sliding off while you're driving round a tricky bend, especially if you are new to the area. Sometimes it can be downright dangerous.

- The windshield mount also alerts thieves that a GPS is in the car. A friction mount can be placed down under the car seat when you leave the car without needing to disconnect anything so that you're ready to go quickly when you come back to the car.

- The other big advantage is the ability to move it around to the position you want it. If a passenger is sitting in your car you can just slide it to their side and they can input the information while you are driving. It also makes it easy to slide it closer to yourself. Since I have the Nuvi 660 I often make calls with the bluetooth feature while driving, it is easy to slide it towards me when I am speaking to someone in order to get better voice reception.

This mount works for all Nuvis as they have the "snap the ball in the joint". If you buy any model of Nuvi then this is all you need, no other adapter parts are needed. It's also easy to switch this mount between cars or move it to a rental car when you travel. It has been the best and most useful accessory I could buy for my Nuvi 660.'

Ipod Touch 4g - ipod touch 4g case, ipod touch 4th generation

4 bucks?? I love it!! This case is great, very durable, gets the job done. Stylish as well, red baby! And the screen protector is so nice as well. Buy you an iPod touch 4G, and get this package with it. People pay upwards of 20 and 30 bucks for cases alone, get this set right here!! Never have I seen such a good deal on something like this. Swag, swag! 4G Touch Red Silicone Protective Armour Case Cover & Screen Protector Kit for New Apple iPod Touch 4th Generation - 8GB 32GB 64GB

Why spend $20-$30 on a case for an iPod Touch when this one is just fine, and it comes with a screen protector! It may not be as slick as the more mainstream brands, but does the job just as well. Similar to buying a $10 HDMI cable or spending $70 or more on Monster cables.

If you want something rubberized and thin - this is a good choice for the price. The sides are a bit flimsy, so they need readjusting to get them back over the screen some times, but if you are looking for a smaller yet rubberized cover, this is a good choice. The screen protector that came with it fit PERFECTLY and went on PERFECTLY and has stayed on PERFECTLY for the entire 2 months we've had it - despite use by an 8 and 10 year old (they each have one). Make sure you do a moist cleansing on the screen to get rid of the statis before you put the screen protector on though, or you'll attract dust and make it unusable.

Items were very inexpensive, but I ended up throwing the $2 away. The silicon case keeps popping off and the screen protector is already peeling off after only being on a few days because of the silicon case.

I've installed quite a few screen protectors in my day and you could barely tell it was on my iPod when I was done. After I put the case on the next day, the corners kept peeling up. If I remove the case and leave it off the screen protector stays on fine. Two items do not work well together and I am now in the market for something better. I've already ordered a hard case to replace the silicon one. The silicon case is a huge dust/crumb magnet as well.

I might also mention that the screen protector came with no instructions, so first time installers beware.

This is a very flimsy case - be very careful when pulling the charger plug from the bottom of your Touch, or you will tear the silicone. It's way too thin and stretchy, way too expensive, and the screen protector is terrible. This is probably one item best not purchased on line - go to a real store and feel it first.

Bought this for my son for his new iPod and he really likes it. The color is bright and real red which is his favorite color. We haven't had any problems with the screen protector peeling off but we've only had it on for a couple of days. I say it's worth the price!

IT IS GREAT LOOKING AND DOES A GREAT JOB OF PROTECTING MY IPOD TOUCH.THE SKIN SUIT CLINGS TO THE UNIT.IN PRODUCTS LIKE IPOD YOU SHOULD ALWAYS THINK RESALE. KEEPING YOUR POD IN GREAT CONDITION WILL GET YOU THE MOST BUCKS ON A RESALE.

Without a cover, my son dropped and smashed the screen of his iPod Touch. When we replaced it (thankfully to the spill/drop coverage), we ordered this to protect it. He's an active kid and has dropped it many times since the first. This cover has prevented ANY damage. The price point is a no brainer for the protection. Ordering was easy and delivery was quick. I love Amazon.. They have everything we need. - Case - Ipod Touch 4th Generation - Ipod Touch 4g Case - Ipod Touch 4g'

3d Glasses - red cyan glasses, anaglyph

I got the pair of glasses for myself to use on Mine craft since It supports 3D for it's own game.

Tried it out they took awhile to work at first since I never look at things in 3D besides 3D Movies today and I don't wear glasses.

So,My eye adjusted to the glasses to the point that I see the realist 3D for the game.

My eyes aren't hurting at all like most people say they do and then there it is 3D.

It's makes me feel like am in the game it's self.

For 5 Dollars that's really cheap for me and for what it's worth the glasses don't seem to be getting dirty at all with the dust in my room!

Over all I enjoy having buyed these cheap 3D glasses for red and blue 3D though for now 3D isn't everywhere just yet and 3D on Game consoles will be somewhat great to see in 3D! Red-blue / Cyan Anaglyph Simple style 3D Glasses 3D movie game

This item is very good for anaglyph 3D viewing and the glasses are durable. I have bought it for watching youtube 3d videos and video games for Playstation3. The product has very little of the "ghosting" effect common with red/blue glasses. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

I would recommend these to anyone who like watching 3D movie that don't need a prescription glasses (wear glasses on a regular bases). For those who where glasses, I recommend finding one of the flip-downs or clip-on 3d glasses.

I bought this to use on YouTube-3D and just like other reviewer's posted, it just does not work!

The colors are definitely off, ghosting effect is too obvious, etc. you can, but only barely, see the 3D effect!

(and that is regardless of color settings or monitor used, i tried many variations)

If you think that you can buy these glasses and watch 3D like the movies or even any 3D-TV then just don't. :)

IMO this is just a toy and not well made for that either.

~ my 2 cents.

The glasses are fine! I decided that the Nividia 3D option was far too expensive to implement (i.e new monitor, card and the glasses kit). So instead I bought these glasses, downloaded the drivers from IZ3d (the anaglyph is free!). I have been playing several games and there are some mild 3d effects and other times there are some truly 3d moments. I played Crysis and with some manual adjustments like increasing color saturation, brightness, gamma, and using their game profiles, it has added a dimensional thrill to all my games. In fact I can't go back to playing it without it. It's not perfect and games like the Half-Life series and Resident Evil 5 simply don't work very well. You'll also have to scale back some settings like anti-aliasing because the anaglyph processing definitely demands more out of your card. If you can find a good balance, can deal with hitting the focus shortcut key when it gets out of alignment, can deal with the limitations of anaglyph 3d, you can have a decent 3d experience. It is a pain to set up and experiment with initially but Dead Space 2 is certainly enhanced and floating out in space to align the arrays was a visual treat! Give it a try if you have at least a 5770 series or above ATI card and don't want to fork out a fortune for the Nvidia setup (although I might buy it one day). For now, it's been a cheap thrill!

Im not sure whether this technology just used to seem spectacular when i was a kid or if the colors are a bit off. slightly contrary to other negative reviews, I've found that the red color filter is not exactly on with any red/blue 3d images or videos on the internet; I tested them on 2 different monitors. This means that all images are eye straining and unclear, with video games, these would be useless. pretty sad for me :( ... But maybe i just wasnt prepared for the low quality of going 3d in such an easy/cheap way. and i get the feeling that all red/blue(cyan) 3d stuff (images, movies, games) have this "ghosting" effect to some degree, if so, they're ...ehem... BS

I picked these up because they weren't too expensive and I wanted to play around with some 3d youtube and test 3d vision. The red seems fine but the cyan is completly off and allows you to see both red and blue sides which caused me eye strain almost right away. As far as the quality, they seem pretty strong and sturdy, but that doesn't count for much if you cant use them.I got these because I was curious and they reviewed higher than the others, but They are almost unusable for me. - 3d Movie Glasses - Red Cyan Glasses - Anaglyph'

Self-stick Note Pad Holders - office humor, post-it

I received the product sooner than I expect, so I have no complaint with the seller. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with the product. The product apparently has a sand-like glue mixture that is inserted from the bottom in order to had weight (I assume). They glued a small rubber material to the bottom in order to seal the hole. Well, the glue does not hold and the rubber material keeps trying to come off, which causes the sand-glue mixture to come out. If you purchase this product you will have to sit it on something solid and leave it alone. You can not move it around too much or the mixture inside with go everywhere. Tech Tools Desktop Madness Series Hand Cell Phone Holder (HS-8038)

This thing is sooo cute! It's heavier and bigger than I expected and made of good quality. I want another one. I'm having fun putting stickers on it and gonna paint it fun colors -- so thanks for leaving it white. One of my friends wanted to know if you make one giving the finger while still holding the phone. She's quirky that way.

Thanks

This is such a great item! My desk at work is usually covered with paper etc. I can keep my phone above the clutter and am able to see messages as they come in. I was surprised on the quality of this produce and it is worth the price. Would make a great gift for someone that has it all.

I bought this for my husband as a "plastic" gift for our anniversary. He LOVES it. He usually has a pretty cluttered desk, and he says that this has made all the difference in actually being able to see his cell phone and when he has phone calls and messages, helping him keep up with everything. He loves the quirky design and has gotten several comments and questions about where he got it.

I got this for my desk at work to keep my phone in a specific place at all times. I love it. The item is super simple, a white plaster or clay material that is really nice and smooth. Looks like the picture. Has perfect little fingernails...I'm trying to resist my insane urge to paint them! Has a nice weight, not too heavy but won't tip over if you sneeze in the direction of it. Tempted to get one for my apartment.

This is great! Holds my Samsung Infuse which is huge. Everyone at work loves it! I've had no issues with its manufacturing. In fact, I can charge my phone (charge port is on the bottom) and still have it sit in the hands. This is great. - Office Humor - Self-stick Note Pad Holders - Post-it Dispenser - Post-it'

Pregnancy Body Pillow - maternity pillow, pregnancy comfort

When I reached the point in my pregnancy where I had to be more conscious about not sleeping on my back, tried sleeping on my side. I'd end up tossing and turning and waking up the next morning with back pain. I shopped around and decided to get the Snoozer Body Pillow based on reviews. After a couple nights of getting used to the best way to use the pillow (I sleep with the crook of the J between my knees), I finally had a good night's sleep with no back pain. After using the pillow for about a month, I'm still happy with the pillow.

I like having the length of the pillow behind my back when I'm on my left side so that I can lean against it to tilt my body when I roll on to my back. I also like to curl up with it when I sleep on my right side.

The only thing that could be improved is that I'm having trouble getting the synthetic down to poof back up after it flattens out. This is only a problem with the part that goes between my knees, but that's a fairly important part. I've tried moving filling down from the rest of the pillow to that section, but it doesn't help.

My cat takes over the pillow during the day and likes to sleep in the crook of the J. =^..^= Snoozer Full Body Pillow Hypoallergenic Synthetic Fiber Filler

I bought this pillow at 14 weeks pregnant, I'm now 25. I've travelled without it and am always kicking myself for not bringing it along with me. 3 pillows do not substitute having this thing, even 3 comfortable pillows and a good mattress. When I sleep without this, I end up on my back (I'm a chronic back sleeper), then I have major aches and pains. This pillow is the only thing that allows me to comfortably sleep on my left side, which they say is best for the baby, and best for you. An added bonus is that I don't snore anymore (my husband thus loves it too). The cost of this pillow is high, and there is a cheaper version on Amazon, but I read the reviews and the other/cheaper version had a scratchy pillowcase and was a firmer pillow overall. This one is synthetic down, so you can move it around to suit your needs. I also sleep with it upside down that what is pictured here. It gives better leg support, and I didn't want to give up my normal down pillow. (I know, fussy fussy) I personally think that it's worth every penny. If you can get a good night's rest, it makes your pregnancy that much easier. Another thing that I've found helps with sleeping on your side is one of those featherbed mattress toppers. You can get them for under $100 at Bed Bath and Beyond. It helps with the added pressure on your shoulders and hips that pregnancy adds.

I love this pillow. My husband got me this as a gift, and it is one of the greatest gifts I've ever gotten! It got me through two pregnancies and is working it's way through my third. It has really helped relieve my lower back and hip pain. I sleep like a baby.

I'm in the middle of my first pregnancy, and have been having trouble trying to sleep on my side (have always been a back sleeper...) I bought this after reading all the great reviews. It is certainly a soft and high quality pillow...HOWEVER...I am very tall (5'9) and the pillow does not work well for tall women. If my head stays on the curved part as shown, there is not enough pillow to support my legs. Trying to compensate has left me waking up with a horrible stiff neck. Also, the cover is difficult to put on. Overall, I'm sure it's a good pillow for most, but tall gals, beware...it's a waste of money!!

I purchased this pillow at a baby expo, so I got to try it out before I bought it. I found it to keep my hips, back and head well aligned which greastly reduced my aches and pains. I even bought my 11 year old son the smaller version of this pillow, and he never sleeps without it.My husband loves this pillow, because I don't take up the entire bed anymore with my tossing and turning to find a comfortable position. In fact, I've caught him napping with it.

When I announced I was pregnant, a good friend mentioned that a body pillow was essential for a good night's sleep during pregnancy. Knowing that I love to sleep, my husband purchased this Snoozer pillow for me as a Christmas present. I am now almost 8 months pregnant and although I have tried using the pillow multiple times during the past three months, I have never liked it. Whenever I read the other glowing reviews here, I honestly wonder what is wrong with me and I try the pillow again, but every experience is the same - negative.I personally cannot get comfortable with the Snoozer. The first problem I encountered was that the head portion was too stuffed, so I developed a horrible ache in my neck from being bent at an awkward angle. So I beat down the stuffing as much as I could and tried again. Since then, every time I have used it, I have woken up in the middle of the night to throw it on the floor and pick up my regular pillow. The constant problems:1) When I sleep on my side spooning the Snoozer with the "J" at the top under my head, the arm under the pillow always falls asleep which causes me to wake up. I've always been a side-sleeper (even before my pregnancy) and I never have this problem when using a regular pillow.2) The bulk is too much for a queen bed. With both my husband and the Snoozer in the bed with me, I'm cramped (and we are both fit, average-size people).3) It's cumbersome to reposition the Snoozer if you move during the night. This is related to #2 because it's practically impossible to turn over with this pillow in a queen bed with another person sleeping beside you. I don't understand the claim made in the description of this product that you can "move freely during the night" and the pillow "follows your motions and sleeping positions"; maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it's been nothing but a big hassle for me. I move around a lot in my sleep, primarily shifting from one side to the other, so I inevitably have to completely wake up and change the Snoozer's position - not conducive to a good night's sleep. I've tried different variations, with the "J" under my head and alternatively with it between my legs, and nothing works.I guess I'm lucky that I can sleep great with just my regular pillow this far into my pregnancy. Hopefully I can get my (husband's :) money's worth by using this as a breastfeeding support, because otherwise this pillow was a waste for me. - Pregnancy Comfort - Pregnancy - Body Pillow - Maternity Pillow'

Video Games - racing, mario kart

It seems just like yesterday when the original Mario Kart made its debut on the SNES in 1992. The game was a hit back then, and it isn't difficult to understand why. A racing game that emphasizes on sabotaging your opponents with weapons like banana skins, flying shells and lightning bolts was almost unheard of then, and to do so with your favorite Nintendo characters was, quite simply, pure bliss. Not surprisingly, the game captured the hearts of many gamers then.

Fast forward to the year 2005. Fans of the series have seen a few sequels through the years, but the DS version of Mario Kart was greeted with much more anticipation than its predecessors. The main reason, obviously, is the game's inclusion of integrated online play. For the first time in Mario Kart's history, gamers can now take on players from all over the world as long as they're using a wireless router that is supported by Nintendo. The game also allows up to eight players to multiplay in close proximity with only one copy of the cartridge, which essentially means that a gamer who decides not to buy the game can still perform a download play and race against a friend who owns a cartridge.

Of course, to enjoy the other features in Mario Kart DS, you'll still have to purchase the game, especially when you're interested in taking on the single-player campaign. As with previous instalments, Mario Kart DS has a grand prix mode, which comprises of four races each that are span across eight different competitions. This means a total of 32 tracks for your racing pleasure. 16 of these tracks are brand new, but the rest consists of classic ones from previous renditions of Mario Kart. These include the Moo Moo Farm from N64, Peach Circuit from the GBA and even the original Mario Circuit from the SNES. These will no doubt bring much joy for Mario Kart fans.

Yet, even in the presence of the classic tracks, the newer tracks do not pale in comparison. The innovative minds at Nintendo have once again developed a series of circuits that are visually stunning, mildly challenging and always entertaining. You'll get to race through a pinball machine, a clock and even an airship fortress! The combination of both old and new tracks is indeed a masterstroke that allows you to engage new challenges, as well as indulge in some nostalgia.

Mario Kart DS also has a mission mode that requires you to perform a series of tasks within a certain time limit. These include collecting a designated number of coins, passing through a series of numbered gates in sequence, and even hitting specified enemies with specified weapons. The missions are divided into "worlds", and each world various stages. Completing all stages in a world will unlock a "boss fight", which could involve winning in a race against the boss, or even to knock him out from a platform. Defeating a boss unlocks the next world, up to a maximum of six worlds and a total of 54 missions. Obviously, the missions get tougher as the game progresses, but they aren't exactly impossible to complete. Gamers who enjoy more than merely racing should find the mission mode in Mario Kart DS a fun and captivating feature.

The other modes in the single player campaign include a VS challenge and a battle mode. The VS challenge basically pits you against seven CPU-controlled racers in a never-ending series of races. This is the perfect training ground for learning the techniques of the game. The battle mode consists of a balloon battle and a shine runners game. The balloon battle requires you to burst the balloons of your opponents, while the shine runners game requires you grab as many shines as possible. These two mini-games are quite forgettable when played alone, so it's recommended that you engage them with a friend or two. Bursting balloons has never been so much fun.

A Mario Kart game is never complete without an array of usable weapons against your fellow racers. In Mario Kart DS, the arsenal gets even better with the inclusion of some new items. One of these new weapons is the Bob-omb, which causes an explosion. If used accurately, the Bob-omb's impact on an opponent is tremendous, as it drastically slows down his or her progress. The Bullet Bill is another new item that is extremely cool. Using it will turn you into a flying bullet. You'll find yourself bursting forward with much speed, knocking over anyone who dares stand in your way, and most importantly, covering a lot of ground. The Blooper, one of Mario's nastiest enemies, is the third new addition. It'll squirt ink onto your opponent's windscreen, causing a temporary loss of vision. The range of old and new items more than complement each other, and you'll no doubt find great usage with them as you progress.

The controls of Mario Kart DS are extremely simple, making it a game that anyone could pick up and play without much hassle. Of course, learning more techniques are useful when you intend to go online for some real challenge, and the game does give you a repertoire of skills to master. One of them is turbo drifting, which requires you to drift, and then quickly press the left and right button on your D-pad to cause your tires to catch fire. Releasing the drift immediately after that will result in a temporary burst of speed. This technique is extremely useful in chasing a seemingly loss cause.

The real meat of the game, obviously, is the online feature. Once you get connected, you'll be able to search for players who're also online at the same time. It may take a while for you to get a full quota of four players, but the game works with one or two opponents as well. You'll have to race through a standard Grand Prix in an online game. You'll also get to vote on which track you want to race, so that you can at least gain an upper hand by (hopefully) getting a track that you're familiar with. It's also advisable for you to practise on the various tracks before proceeding, since you won't want to finish last all the time!

As mentioned earlier, you can also play with fellow friends with the use of only one cartridge, but the player who doesn't have a cartridge will, by default, be using Shy Guy as a character. The player only needs to turn on his DS when another player hosts the game, and he should be able to "download" the game into his DS for a quick race. As with online play, it takes a while for the connection to be established, but my experience with multiplaying has found no lag at all during the gameplay, which is definitely great. Beware, however, when you send a bolt of lightning towards your friend - regular attempts at this could possibly lead to a loss of friendship at the end of the races!

If you're a fan of Nintendo-style graphics, Mario Kart DS will not disappoint you. The game retains the usual awesome graphics from the past, and provides a great sense of details even for a supposedly "cartoony" presentation. The DS' dual screen also comes in handy here, as you can watch the action on the top screen, while still referring to the touch screen for a real-time map. The map is especially useful for dodging attacks from behind. The audios are also highly enjoyable, combining great music and sound effects seamlessly. Somehow, the sound of "vroom vroom" seems to blend perfectly to the lively, catchy tunes in the background. If only prime time radio is that good.

In summary, Mario Kart DS is everything you can expect from a Mario Kart game, and perhaps just a little more. The inclusion of online play makes the experience a little better, but even if you've no access to it, the single player campaign should still be good enough to keep you going back for more. Converter - converter, pc

The converter worked, but not as intended. First, it supported resolution only up to 800x600 (did not support 1024x768 as claimed). Second, the TV image was shaking occasionally (once per 1-2 minutes). While 800x600 resolution was fine for watching movies, the shaking was not acceptable. As a result, I had to return the converter. Unfortunately, Sewell claimed the converter was OK and did not return the shipping and handling costs to me. I have a Fujitsu Lifebook notebook with an Intel video card (in case this information helps). Buy a more expensive converter with a power adapter (as opposed to power coming from a USB port). This is because a good effective video processing takes considerable power, which a USB port might not be able to provide. Sewell PC to TV (VGA to RCA) Converter

I needed a device that would allow our church to occasionally record the output of a computer rather than the camera feed that is normally recorded. The computer output is set to 1024 x 768 to match the projectors, so I needed a device that could at least handle that resolution. I also didn't want to spend too much money because this would only be needed occasionally and we don't require studio quality recordings. This device was easy to hook up and the output is very acceptable for an item at this price point. The unit has menu buttons that allow you to adjust the output of the device if needed and that works quite well.

Overall, I'm very happy with the way this item works, especially considering the price I paid. If you are considering this item, just remember to make sure the specifications indicate that it is capable of doing what you need it to do.

I use this to display karaoke words on HD screens (from a laptop to the TV). This product is very easy to use and requires no significant tech savvy, as long as you know the difference between an RCA (most TVs have one) and a VGA (computer monitor) plug. In my opinion, this is the best one you can buy because it's cheap, and for karaoke it cuts down on overhead. Also, works great for turning any TV into a second monitor for either a desktop or laptop. Everything you need is included (i.e. VGA cable, RCA cable, USB power cable, S-Video cable, and the converter itself). NOT OPTIMAL FOR RUNNING MOVIES FROM PC OR LAPTOP TO YOUR HDTV!! For that use a VGA to HDMI converter!!

I purchased this device to interconnect my MacBook Pro to a TV, previously I just borrowed my mom's Apple TV converter "My old ibook g3" but since Apple no longer is going to make those I had to find a alternative.

I am very happy with this device overall.

however there is one thing to note, other than the fact that down converting VGA resolution of 1024x768 down to 640x480 for a TV that is interlaced or to a flat-panel LCD or similar viewing medium. The quality is only as good as 640x480 interlaced.

I would classify this device is an entry-level medium quality converter.

Picture quality is almost equal to the Apple one however!

There is some lag but it's not too horrible, it's there i noticed it on my tube TV and a portable 5 inch LCD.

I move my mouse cursor up and down and it didn't move up and down as quickly as it did on my computer screen. this is due to the lag that it takes to process the video signal through this device, I have used other devices and I did not notice this problem before.

that being said this will work great with still photos, basic PowerPoint presentations "nothing moving real fast", and movies that don't have a lot of action in them. get the point no sports or fast action.

Other than the mouse cursor I didn't notice the lag very much while I was streaming Netflix movies, that is until the scenes started to move quickly.

but it Wasn't as bad as Netflix rebuffering.

now that that's out of the way I did buy another one of these for my church.

the primary use will be to display the PowerPoint "keynote" on a closed-circuit television network amongst four TVs.

We will have the occasional video clip however I don't see the lag being a very big problem right now.

and if you're wondering what my setup is at church.

the VGA out of four computers "Mac, Dell, my Mac, guest" gos into a basic four-port video switch "from cables to go Product #28750" into this device and that goes out to the projector via VGA.

and the composite of this device goes to a four-port video switch and selects between camera and computer which then goes to a VCR to output on channel 3.

I am a part-time DJ and VJ (Video Jockey) and had a problem when I switched to a new computer. It did not have a s video or RCA to plug in my video mixer, which I often like to use. I got this product today, and I tried it out and it worked like a charm. The claims of it not being as clear as VGA is somewhat true, but I tested with the music videos and it looked good and maybe a slight loss in quality, but not much. If you need this product for a specific reason like me, then this works. Text in smaller fonts are little blurry when I intitially was hooking it up, but the print under the videos looked fine because they were bigger. - Tv - Converter - Pc To Tv - Pc'
